Life is Cheerful and Bright in South East London

South East London is a vast region of the capital and includes the Boroughs of Greenwich, Southwark, Bromley, Croydon, Lewisham and Bexley. Our moving services are available to businesses and home owners throughout this area, which plays host to a full range of residents and has a lot to offer visitors. The most famous landmark perhaps is the Oval Cricket Ground in Kennington, where you can catch a County Cricket game featuring Surrey or an England match in the Ashes Series or even the Cricket World Cup. The Oval is a ground you can tour and it is frequently the venue of some of the best fixtures in the cricket calendar. On the subject of sport, South East London is home to three football clubs in the Premier and Football Leagues – namely Millwall FC, Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace. All three clubs have a long history and grounds situated in the region.

That’s by no means all South East London is noted for however. At its northern-most point the River Thames flows by and the Imperial War Museum is one of the most famous attractions in this area. Having been refurbished recently and expanded to mark the 100-year anniversary of the start of World War One, it is a superb exhibition of artefacts and machinery used in modern combat, and there are fascinating exhibitions and guided tours available for history enthusiasts. Further up the river is the Thames Barrier, and a bit closer to Central London you will find Tower Bridge, the iconic bridge crossing the Thames and featuring a museum depicting Victorian work on the River, and a walkway for those keen on seeing a view of Central London and beyond.

More About The Area

For a really good vantage point however, the London Eye is a must. You can see for miles around from the top of the London Eye and at sunset, it is a romantic spot if you want to see the sun set behind the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Tall buildings are a feature of this region and a trip to Canada Water and Canary Wharf will enthral you, with stunning views from the top of these iconic skyscrapers across the capital as well as restaurants and shops to boot. Closer to London Bridge, the Shard is now standing and is London’s tallest building. In a unique pyramid form, the Shard is not only a wonderful feature of engineering, but a tremendous place from which to view the capital city.

South East London’s many districts include many green spaces for families to spend an afternoon out. Dulwich Park, Blackheath and Greenwich Park offer greenery, play areas, tennis courts and (on a warm summer’s day) ice cream vans and are perfect places to take the kids. Greenwich is also a place which features a fascinating Royal Observatory, the Royal Museums and the National Maritime Museum. It is the home of Greenwich Mean Time, and situated on the banks of the River Thames.
For an evening out in South East London, why not try Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, which still hosts productions of the work of the famous playwright. It is curiously an open air theatre, unlike many of the West End venues that get stuffy and crowded and you can book a guided tour if you want to see the whole building. Not too far from here is the Tate Modern, one of London’s premier art galleries, and further afield is the iconic Eltham Palace and Gardens and the very funky Design Museum.
